INTERACTIVE MULTIMEDIA STUDIO FOR CHILDREN

 Interactive Studio
 Multimedia Studio

It was the first time when Centras4 festival offered interactive multimedia studio between the artists and audience. This year's festival offered the interactive studio for children, who want to overcome their fears. Studio was headed by an artist Aukse Petruliene, psychologist Gintare Aleksiejunaite and composer Titas Petrikis.

The goal of the studio is that audience and artist would participate in common work process, and children with the help of the psychologist would overcome or at least limit their fears. Over 10 children participate in the studio, and each of them told their story with the help of multimedia equipment. Such stories last several minutes, and the main emotional environment consisted of improvised music. Before each story, composer asked the children to tell briefly what it was about, so some preparations in the music could take place. Over three hours event was a great time for children, their parents, artists and audience. This interactive art studio is the first step in Centras 4 festival to make closer the audience and artists.

Aukse Petruliene, artist, educator at the M.K.Ciurlionis national art museum:

Interactive multimedia studio jointed frightful pictures and blood heating cooperation. Everyone who came to the studio could draw their fear, then show it on projector, make interactive video for that, and wrap up all the performance in original music environment. The children worked with experts: Titas helped to manage the sounds and music, Gintare managed the psychological environment, so children are well directed in the audiovisual art, and me, who helped to make video performance from the art stand point of view. The main emphasis of the studio was the creative process, communication based on popular theme – how to cope with fear. Not only the process was incredible, but also the experimental result of the participants was amazing. The fear loses its strength, when it is revealed and embodied and taken out from the dark. In this way the artistic expressions of the children got therapy aspect as well.

The studio is important to the psychological development of the children in the way, that they can be active about the process. Television offers only end result with no capacity to influence the flow of the events. Five-hour multimedia session could be called a special training when a child becomes a Good Conqueror.
